Grateful
There are moments in life when something that has lived quietly in your heart for years finally finds its voice.
Wednesday of this week was one of those moments for me.
I had the honor of sharing my story and the story behind Embers during a workshop with the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, an organization that has walked beside so many fire families through both heartbreak and healing over the years.
For more than three decades, I’ve lived this life alongside wildland firefighters. As a wife through hotshot years, leadership roles, 32 fire seasons, exhaustion, pride, fear, resilience, and all the complicated pieces in between. Not only do I do this as a wife, but now as a mother to wildland firefighters.
Embers was born from that journey. From the belief that the people holding life together at home matter too. That the gentle warriors behind firefighters need support, connection, and community because they also carry fire season.
Standing in front of a room full of people who understand this life so deeply felt emotional in a way I can’t fully explain. It felt vulnerable. Meaningful. Real. It was also healing to know that what I have carried might help someone else.
I’m incredibly grateful to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation for creating space for this conversation and for believing in the importance of supporting the families and loved ones who walk this road alongside firefighters.
This is only the beginning for Embers, but this moment mattered deeply to me.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and believed in this vision so far. I can feel this community beginning to gather already. 🤍🔥
